SCOPE

Kitchen and BathRenovation

Every project begins with the same question: how do you want to feel in this space, and who do you hope to become inside it? For Hillside Field House, the answer came from a father who simply wanted his daughter to want to come home. That is where this design began.

An old Pennsylvania farmhouse on a quiet country road in Northumberland County. The goal was simple: make it a place Allie would want to come home to.

Leo had a problem most fathers would recognize. His daughter had built a life in New York City and the visits home were getting shorter. His solution was to renovate the farmhouse she grew up in, but do it in a way that actually spoke to her.

The tension between his farmer's aesthetic and her modern sensibility could have been a conflict. Instead it became the design brief. Two people with completely different relationships to the same house, both of them right.

The kitchen renovation centers on Legacy Cabinets in a classic Wexford shaker door style, painted in a warm ivory that reads almost white without losing its warmth. Clean and current without abandoning the farmhouse bones of the space. A classic white 3x6 subway tile backsplash runs the full length of the work wall, grounding the Pennsylvania farmhouse kitchen in something timeless. Tesora Fresca quartz countertops with a quarter inch eased edge and a Kohler Whitehaven farmhouse sink complete the picture. Nothing precious. Nothing that won't age well.

Halo recessed ceiling lights keep the kitchen bright and functional while WAC warm under cabinet lighting brings the work surfaces to life in the evenings. Amerock cup pulls and knobs in a warm finish tie the hardware together with a quiet nod to the farmhouse character Leo never wanted to lose.

The bathroom renovation carries the same logic. A double vanity with quartz countertops and warm wood floors gives the space a quiet elegance that feels earned rather than installed. The wood framed mirror, Leo's own contribution, ties it back to the land it sits on.

The result is a farmhouse kitchen and bath renovation in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania that holds both worlds without apology. His roots. Her eye. One house.

She comes home more now.

"Two people with completely different relationships to the same house, both of them right. Our job was to honor that."
